Strengthening the Supply Chain Through Traceability and ICS Training

Motivated by the goal of building a fair and sustainable system, KOBUMI recently wrapped up a two-day training session on Traceability and Internal Control Systems (ICS) that took place on August 1–2, 2024. This training represents a significant milestone in the effort to ensure that every spice and fishery product sourced from local and Indigenous communities in Eastern Indonesia not only has a clear trace but also maintains consistent quality and tells a compelling story worth sharing with the world.

Under the direct guidance of Peni Agustiyanto from Rikolto Indonesia, we deepened our understanding of how to build a robust traceability system, align cultivation practices with Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) standards, and reassess the readiness of our field and warehouse operations. More than a technical upgrade, the training became a space for reflection on how we can grow without losing our roots and respond to global market demands without sacrificing local values.

The strength of a supply chain lies not only in its efficiency but also in its integrity. Through this step, we are reinforcing the foundation to build a solid bridge between smallholder producers and global buyers—a supply chain that carries products, trust, sustainability, and hope.
