About KOBUMI
We have the Earth. It is ours. We are one with the Earth.
This is our home—a planet we must protect so it can continue to sustain life for us all.
How We Started
Indigenous rights and environmental protection cannot be sustained without strong, inclusive local economies. Recognizing this, the EcoNusa Foundation partnered with 10 Indigenous cooperatives in Papua, Maluku, and Sulawesi to establish KOBUMI in June 2022—a social-ecological enterprise owned by Indigenous and local communities.
KOBUMI aims to strengthen livelihoods by connecting community-grown products to markets through transparent sourcing, value-added processing, and logistical support. We believe that sustainable economies, rooted in Indigenous knowledge and rights, are key to preserving forests, oceans, and biodiversity across Eastern Indonesia—our nation’s climate frontier.
With the rise of social forestry and Indigenous forest recognition, KOBUMI works to ensure that Indigenous communities are not just participants, but primary beneficiaries of this movement.
Finest Goods of the Eastern Paradise—led by the people who call it home.
